Install Dockalizer, press and hold the home button and the dock will appear on your screen with the applications and the look and feel you've set up. It takes up no space on your screen and the dock only appears when you need it. You can easily customize Dockalizer with the configurator that the application includes. Also, if you have a current version of Android you can set up Dockalizer to show recently used applications to switch between applications easily.
